Fundamentalism

Nationalism can lead to fundamentalism. Fundamentalism entails getting back to the basics. Fundamentalism is a complete rejection of the outside force or the conquering empire and is a retreat to their basic beliefs.

If you think about it, fundamentalism can lead to more nationalism or a pride in one's own belief system and this nationalism can ultimately lead to more imperialism. It is a vicious cycle.

These concepts will be encountered again and again as we continue through this course.
