The population of the United States is about 281 million while the population of Canada is only 29 million. The state of California has a bigger population than all of Canada.
Like many other areas of the world, the culture of North America has been greatly influenced by past European occupation. European language, religion and ethnicity dominate life in North America. African culture is also a major influence in many areas within North America. To a smaller degree, Native American influence exists (often) in more remote areas.
The most widely spoken language is English while Spanish and French dominate certain areas within North America. The dominant religion is categorized as Protestant Christian yet is composed of many different denominations. Roman Catholicism is the largest single religion in North America comprising a little less than 20% of the population.
